Don't buy anything yet. It still has to get thru the BOD. Based upon member
comments, I don't think there will be any concern on their(BOD) part.

I just like knowing what and when I can buy things. I could use a spare
engine. I could really use a 50lb weight penalty. This new baby thing is
just packing on the pounds right now...
I dislike changing carbs back and forth. Anything that will get me closer
to those annoying formula fords. They have such an irritating noise. All
of that revving up and down and up and down all of the time. They just need
to stay out of the way.

FMod has the following:

these correspond to the August Fasttrack items:
ITEM 53) Change Modified Category
(pg.227), Modified Class F.5. to read as follows:
"Rotax powered cars are permitted to
use 34 or 38mm Mikuni roundslide carburetors.
AMW powered cars may use either
the 38 mm AMW carburetors or update to
the 38 mm Mikuni roundslide carburetors."
Comment: This allows for any GCRlegal
Rotax-powered F500 to run in F
Modified, and allows for parity by allowing the AMW-powered cars to use the
same carburetors.
ITEM 54) Change the last sentence of
A.4 under Modified Class F in Appendix A to read as follows: "Add 50 lbs.
for AMW and the Rotax 494 and 493 engines."
ITEM 55) Under Modified Class F. in
Appendix A, add new subsection C.2.r)
"Aftermarket shift forks/shift rod/mounting parts and alterations required
for their installation is permitted with the intent of facilitating reliable
H-pattern shifting. This allowance does not include sequential shifting(push
button or single axis lever
movement) mechanisms or electric/gas
assist. Cable/hydraulic actuating mechanisms are allowed."
So does this, pending final BOD approval mean that the 493 is really a go
for both solo and club racing?
It will be nice not having to switch carbs back and forth, that was getting
to be tedious.
