Bruce:
For the 493 you'll want the MPEM ignition module, and coil. These
engines incorporate an anti-theft system that wires into the main
harness. There is a cap (like an acorn) that connects to the harness.
If you don't get a matching set, you'll have to go to the Ski-Doo
dealer and have them match a set for you. I'm told it costs about $20.
I think there was a previous post that indicated Tony Murphy can supply
an ignition that doesn't require the anti-theft stuff. Better check with
him for details. Carbs that come with most? all? 493 will be the 40mm
and they're not currently legal.
The 494 is a little simpler. Engine, carbs, ignition module, coil.
Take it all if it you can get it. Can't help with the Kawasaki carb
question.

>HELP PLEASE! I'm going engine shopping. I live in a part of the country that has 9 months of winter and 3 months of poor skiing so there are one or two snowmobile salvage yards around. If I can find a 493 that's what I'm going to get but if not a 494 non-RAVE will have to do. Other than the engine itself, I should be getting the applicable CDI box and wiring harness, right? What about the carbs? By the way, I have a couple Kawasaki 440's in my garage. Will the carbs from those work on the 494 and 493? What else would be helpful to use from a salvaged sled? Any and all help will be appreciated. Many thanks!
