You forget.... Rotax does not import the 493 into the US. It's imported
by Tony Murphy at Rotax Parts Center. It's not like an upgraded version
of the 493 will slip in through some snowmobile dealer or get dug out of
a junkyard. That's one of the advantages of the 493... a single source
that is committed to the class and will provide the same engine and
parts to everyone.

I don't think anyone has an objection. Several people have already spent
considerable time identifying part numbers and what is what. Most of
that information has been posted here already.

Better send it anyway and tell them what you think!!! You make good
points and those should be communicated to the comp board and the BOD.

Guys... the time for discussion has passed. Action is required and
required NOW. A recommendation has already been sent to the BOD by the
comp board. If you don't protest at this point the comp board's
recommendation will be approved by the BOD within a few weeks... we'll
get the 494 Rave legalized for national and the 493 will stay regional
only - neither with any sort of parts specification.

Well.... someone has got to write it up as a proposal and submit it to
the comp board. I'd be happy to act as secretary and compile the
information into a draft, but I have neither the time nor contacts to
collect and verify all of the required information and part numbers. If
the experts will help me out with the raw data, I'll put it together and
forward it to the list for review.

But first... WE HAVE ALL GOT TO WRITE TO THE BOD AND REQUEST THAT THEY
DO NOT APPROVE THE COMP BOARD'S PROPOSAL AS PRESENTED!!!!! Once the BOD
has approved it, there is no going back.
