The very oldest F440 cars have no suspension, however, most cars do have
suspension. Damping is typically achieved with a rubber-in-can type device
which essentially replaces the shock in a push or pull rod linkage system.
Many cars are ride height, camber, caster, roll & toe adjustable. Vibration
from the engine is transmitted into the chassis, but the degree of severity
depends on the chassis design. This is true of any car. the short answer
is No, they are very inexpensive to operate actually. Most large cash
outlays can be avoided by simple preventative maintenance.
