That's a good point too Julie. I hadn't thought of that. Guess that's what the brainstorming is all about. Hmm....What to do?
Shippy mentioned the Provisionals had been voted out for this year. Anybody know why?

Subject: Re: [F500] Re: Runoffs Qualifying
I appreciated Chuck's comments on this topic, they were very insightful.
I have a comment/ scenario to add as well. Years ago, as Chuck
mentioned, to qualify for the Run-Offs you had to finish in the top 4 in
division and they took two more from each of the 'well attended'
divisions. I can't remember the race requirements but they were a little
stricter than they are right now. When they changed that rule to the top
10 with only 3 required races the number of entries in regular national
races dropped. Dramatically, throughout the country.
If you begin filling the field with drivers outside of the 10 now
accepted what is the incentive to attend races? Cory has just given you
such a situation. He can run 3 races in Mid-Div and make it to the
Run-Offs. In the Southeast Division he would have to run a lot more than
that to make it. If he knew he could make it in the SE with only 3 races
(finishing 11th or 12th or even 15th) why should he go as far as Road
Atlanta or Virginia for points. And I'm not saying that we should be
forced to attend every race in the division, however, if we begin seeing
a decline in the number of races attended we'll see a decline in the
number of entries and run into the potential of losing national status.
This is just my opinion and certainly, without question, not the opinion
of Rusty :)
