[F500] clutching questions

Not having an alignment tool myself, I just run the car up about half
throttle and then let it idle back down. Wherever the secondary ends up on
the shaft after that is where I tighten it down (unless it looks way out of
whack). I'm running a Kaw motor and 5.5:1 for gearing. It works for me,
but the top end is pretty low (maybe 70-75 MPH).

: Tony,

: As you may know I have MS, I can't drive to Devins and back
: and race in the
: same day, my body won't take it. Devins and NHIS are a long
: haul for me....
:
: We are still trying to sort out the car, it is getting
: better, new tires
: helped a lot. Since we got the tires Rick and I have beat
: Mike Picher 2 out
: of 3 events. Now the clutches need some work. It bogs badly
: on the start and
: isn't backshifting well. I'd love to setup the clutch to
: minimize how much
: it moves on the jackshaft but I have no idea how much offset
: we should have
: with the Polaris primary and secondary on the car. I just ordered new
: springs and the large bushing, and new buttons to freshen up
: the driven
: clutch. We will be adjusting the drive clutch upon receiving
: the new belt as
: well. Hopefully it will do the trick
