The belt hanging off the left side indicates that the left side needs to
be longer by maybe 1/2 more turn or so.
Used tires should be checked for sidewall cracks, and the hardness of the
compound. I push my fingernail into the rubber to judge how soft it is.
(This is a crude test...there are guages for this, but I use the guess
method). I take my wheels to a local tire shop, and so for have had no
trouble either in their service or capability to balance the wheels.

Hello again! I recently purchased an 89 red devil and just replaced the
smaller drive gear with an even smaller one. (i mainly auto-x it so
this gave me a much better ratio) but i have noticed a problem. The
belt seems to want to stay on the left side of the drive gear (on the
axle) It even hangs over about a 1/4 of an inch. How can i adjust this
while still keeping tension on the belt? The car has a QRE 4 link rear.
When i originally tightened the belt, i followed someones advice and
turned the connecting bars symetrically, but something must be off.
Also, i need to change the tires. Where can i take it to get it done?
Motorcycle shop? Automotive tire shop? Can i do it myself? Finally, I
understand about wear indicators on the tires, but how else do i know
which tires i should keep? (you see, i acquired a bunch of half-used road
race tires when i purchased the car) Other than the visible indicators
for wear, how can i decide as to which ones are the best (stickest)?
Thanks a million! you guys are a huge help and an indispensable resource!
