[F500] BELATED THANKS

Hi Marilyn,
I've enjoyed some of your comments and experiences here on the F5 website. I just sold my KBS Mk 5 to Jerry Smith of St. Charles, Illinois. It is a good competitive car (former Jeff Jorgenson car) with a Rotax engine and KBS 8.5 rear end. I'm wondering who in his area would be a good contact for Jerry, as he is new to racing, new to SCCA and new to F500. I'm a little to far away, Stevens Point, Wis, to be of much help to him. I think Jerry will be good for the class because he mainly wants to have fun and loves both racing cars, and our class. One of the problems I had was not having anyone nearby to go to with my problems. I'd like to see this guy be successful and enjoy the car. He is in his mid fifties (I'm 63) and a very nice person, so I feel he can be an asset to F500 and the other competitors. I gave him the information yesterday, so I assume he is now a member of our website. Just for the record, his e-mail address is JERRYS at WPCINC.COM. Anyway, if you know of anyone in his area that is active in F500 that would be a good reference for him I know he'd appreciate it. (I know you're from Illinois, but I don't know where.) Oh yes, he'll be joining the Chicago Region, SCCA this week.
               Thanks,
                   Roger

We had a great weekend at Grattan last weekend, despite our phenomenal
streak of bad luck! This past weekend reinforced why we love this class:
competitors helping each other. Examples: Jeremy and the Dick family
helping Dave Shelbo change a stator (Chas. provided a little kibbitzing);
much help, advise and tips to help us out as well. Not trusting the Rotax
we had just rebuilt we threw in an old, worn (9% down per leakdown) but
reliable engine. Thanks to tips and advise from others we resolved a few
non-engine problems, we couldn't qualify on Saturday, but we did get to
race on Sunday. No thanks to Chas. who made a smart comment, Since all
was well WATCH THE ENGINE WON'T START!!!!! Time to grid, engine flooded.
We got help from so many people in those wild moments that ensued that we
did not have the opportunity to THANK everybody that got us going. Mike
Runyon deserves a HUGE THANK YOU- hope you've recovered from the workout
with the pull cord. Chas now has me doing pull cord exercises. THANKS to
Phil Green for many things, particularly after observing what we'd known all
along but someone
(Chas) was to stubborn to change -- to much front brake bias. Those Snell
helmets are really protective especially for Chas for making the comment
about not starting and the pit crew (namely the wife, Marilyn) who wanted to
smack the driver for saying such a thing but rest assured I didn't as it
would have been my pull cord hand hitting the helmet. Thanks again
everybody.
