Just want to add something to all of this good advice:  That hose that came
loose on you lubricates the auxiliary shaft as well as the center bearing
(and possibly the outers; I am unsure).  The aux. shaft drives the water and
oil pumps as well as the (soft brass gear driven) rotary valve that takes
power off the crank (via a steel drive gear).  You may want to check that
shaft for play or resistance, too.
