[F500] Chain and sprocket question

I agree with Paul. Sprocket Specialists is an excellent resource for
sprockets. However, they don't cary the smaller sprockets that we need with
the 1/4" keyway's. So I use Applied Industrial and purchase the 50 series
front sprockes and have them machined to fit like Paul says.
Good luck,
Eric.

Using an industrial '50' front sprocket and then turning down the thickness
is a good way to use 520 chain ilo 530.

John,
I got my 66 tooth sprocket from Sprocket Specialists
(http://www.sprocketspecialists.com). Very easy to work with. I can
probably dig up the part number for the sprocket that I ordered. For the
front sprocket I got some industrial sprockets and had a machine shop grind
the face to fit. I am pretty sure the chain is a 550. I didn't want to
mess with the O-Ring master links so mine is not an O-Ring chain.
As an aside... I ordered a hardened sprocket from them (takes a week).
They shipped it out and it got lost in UPS land somewhere. They sent me a
non-hardened one, overnight at no expense to me, and let me keep the
non-hardened one. Very good customer service.

: Due to some transitory misalignment (I finally solved my "brake"

: is how do I tell what kind of chain I have (530, 550, etc.)? Are
: there specific things to measure so I can tell? What kind of chain is
: best (DID or RK? O-Ring, X-Ring, "normal" non-oring?) Where can I get
: the chain online? Where can I get the large sprocket (66 tooth for
: autocross) online?
